EDEN PULLED UP IN FRONT of the local police department and killed the engine. Rose had called her about an hour before and said she had something set up for them. Something that hopefully would keep them from having to wait for the next body to drop before they figured something out. She stood just inside the entrance with a smile on her face.

“Why do you look like you just did something that you shouldn't have?” Eden asked with a chuckle.

Rose shrugged in response. “I don't know, because I didn't this time,” she said, motioning for Eden to follow her. “We haven't been involved in this case from the beginning. We only got involved when local PD call this in, and by then this had been going on for years. Unfortunately, that means we missed out on a lot of scenes and evidence. I’ve looked at this stuff before, but you haven’t, so I asked them to set up one of the small rooms with everything, every body, and every scrap of evidence they had. Hopefully, we can find something that they missed.”

“This is a pretty good idea actually. What made you think of this?”

“When I first started taking on cases, one of the more experienced agents always told me that if I got lost, I should always go back to the beginning. Sometimes it helps you find your way, or sometimes you see something you didn't see the last time. Either way, nothing bad comes with starting over again.”

“Smart guy.”

The room was quite small. It could fit maybe four people and not much else, but it was packed with boxes and folders and baggies. Eden felt her eyes widen as she looked around at the mound of stuff. For some reason, it hadn’t occurred to her that there was quite this much evidence.

“This is going to take forever,” she whispered.

“Yep,” Rose said, pulling a chair out of her way. “I already asked Vivian to give us a list of the places that deliver to the police department, so that way when you get hungry you can just order something.”

“Any chance there's some places that deliver coffee on there?” Eden punctuated her question with an involuntary yawn.

“I already called and ordered you a cup, along with a few pastries to go along with it because I have no idea whether you eat breakfast or not.”

Eden settled herself on the other side of the table and pushed the chair closest to her into the corner with the others. “Normally I don't remember to eat anything, breakfast, lunch or dinner… But I'm trying to get better about that because people have a tendency to get upset if I go three days without eating.”

Rose smirked. “From what I understand, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to eat more regularly than that.”

“Yeah well, there are a lot of things I'm supposed to do more often than I do them. Let's not dwell on how I take terrible care of myself, shall we?” Eden grabbed the closest box to her and started digging through its contents.
